A tale of hope and redemption, AFI-nominated telemovie Valentine’s Day screened on ABC TV in 2008. Ben Valentine (Rhys Muldoon) has totally lost his way in the world when he finds himself in a strange country town.

After a run-in with the law he is sentenced to 200 hours of community service and forced to coach the town’s “no-hoper” football team. Teetering on the brink of demise if they don’t win three out of the next four games, not only will the team have to merge with their arch rivals, but the town will also lose its precious Dicks (the town’s pie factory) which will have to be sold.

For the proud, close-knit community the future is looking bleak. Embraced heart and soul by the townsfolk, this one-time drifter learns how to live and hope again – and so does the town.

Also starring Anita Hegh, Freya Stafford, Michael Tuahine and Roy Billing. Written by Peter Temple and directed by Peter Duncan.
